Aaliyah Death Story and Photos

Aaliyah Dana Haughton was an American R&B singer from Detroit, Michigan. She died on August 25, 2001 when she was just 22 years old. Aaliyah had wrapped up recording footage for her upcoming video Rock the Boat when a twin engine Cessna 402B she was riding in crashed, killing all 9 people on board.

The crash happened on Abaco Island in the Bahamas, in perfect weather with clear skies and little wind, shortly after takeoff at Marsh Harbour airport, about 100 miles north of Nassau. Bahamian police Superintendent Basil Rahming said the crash was likely caused by one of the Cessna’s engines failure.

The Cessna 402 was owned by a Pembroke Pines, Florida based company called Skystream. The plane was bound for Opa-locka, Florida when it crashed. Pilot Luis Morales and 8 passengers, including Aaliyah died.

The other passengers were identified as 41 year old Scott Gallin – bodygoard, 49 year old Keith Wallace of Los Angeles, 28 year old Douglas Kratz – a video production director and a representative for Virgin Records, 29 year old Eric Foreman – makeup artist of Hollywood, California, 29 year old Gina Smith of New Jersey – Blackground Records executive, 32 year old Christopher Maldonado of New York and 34 year old Anthony Dodd of Los Angeles – hairstylist who survived the crash but died later at a Nassau hospital.

After her death, Aaliyah’s parents sued Blackhawk International Airways Corp., owners of Skystream Inc. and reached an undisclosed settlement in Miami federal court. Apparently, at the time of the crash, Blackhawk did not have permission from the Bahamas for commercial flights.

It was reported that the plane was overloaded by 700 pounds and was one person over capacity, but Bahamian investigators never officially determined what caused the crash. Two weeks before the crash, plane’s pilot pleaded no contest to charges of possession of crack cocaine and attempting to sell stolen airplane parts and was on probation. He wasn’t licensed to operate the plane used for the fatal flight and only began working at Blackhawk two days before the accident. He apparently falsely obtained his Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) license by falsifying hundreds of hours he had never flown.

Coroner’s office in The Bahamas found that Aaliyah suffered from severe burns and a blow to the head. They also found traces of alcohol and cocaine in the system of the pilot.

Aaliyah Death Planned by the Illuminati?

Aaliyah’s death gave rise to all kinds of conspiracy theories, mostly speculating that the singer’s death was planned by the Illuminati. Apparently, she got herself involved with the high society but backpedalled on the oath which made her a target. Some say she became a blood sacrifice for her fiancé Dame Dash, others maintain she didn’t want to thoroughly commit and became a blood sacrifice for someone willing to go all the way. Name of singer Beyonce seems to pop up a lot in this regard.

Yet another conspiracy theory says that Aaliyah passed the process of being initiated into the Illuminati society and became a member but later accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and God took her to save her from the dangers of the Illuminati. This theory seems to go with a dream Aaliyah brought up on a number of occasions as a repeating occurrence.

I actually struggled with the previous sentence cause I just couldn’t beat myself into fitting word “music” into it.
